Fruit of the Sea

Carole Frances Lung

This caftan was created at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine. I woke at 4:30 am with the lobster boats, swam every day, and was surrounded by the Atlantic. This time on the Atlantic reminded me of the time I spend with my father on his Robalo boat, fishing and monitoring the port of Long Beach, CA. This caftan was made with fabric purchased at Marden’s, a regional all-in-one store that has a large selection of fleece and quilting cottons. It is a rectangle, with pockets, hood, and zipper. It can be worn walking to the beach, over the rocks, and in the water.
